1031 Risk Factors for PTSD and Depression after Earthquake
Study Description
1031 Risk Factors for PTSD and Depression after Earthquake
Survivors (children age 9 -18) severely impacted by Turkey’s 1999 7.4-magnitude quake were enrolled via schools in the region. One to two months following a 7.4- magnitude quake in Turkey (1999), 160 students were examined by self report questionnaire, psychiatric interview, clinician-administered post-traumatic stress disorder scale (CAPS), and depression and anxiety inventories. After 18–20 months, the research team followed up with 74 of the 96 students who had been diagnosed with PTSD at the baseline assessment, and these students were reassessed by psychiatric interview and CAPS.
