The present investigation is a population-based study of the predictors of PTSD symptom development during the course of the year after injury among hospitalized, physically injured adolescents. Clinical, injury, and demographic characteristics were identified and PTSD symptoms prospectively followed in a randomly selected cohort of 108 injured adolescent inpatients, ages 12 to 18. Adolescents and their parents were interviewed at baseline and again 2, 5, and 12 months postinjury.
