1012 Paediatric Injury Study

A total of 104 children (40 females and 64 males) aged between 7 and 15 and their parents participated in the study. These children had been admitted to hospital as a result of injury sustained in an accident, and were identified through emergency admission records. The parents and children completed a number of questionnaires assessing both global and post-traumatic distress at 2 weeks, 4-6 weeks and 6 months post-trauma.

The child was excluded from participation if they had a history of physical or sexual abuse; or had a history of head injury
Child age 7 to 14 years admitted to hospital for accidental injury. Both parent and child must speak fluent English (grade 6 or above)
