1004 VIP Dataset I
Study Description
1004 VIP Dataset I
Joel Fein and Nancy Kassam-Adams
This hospital-based Violence Intervention Project (VIP) screened youth in Emergency Departments (EDs) for violent injury, and provided rapid on-site assessment and referral to a range of community-based services for youth within certain postal codes. After ED screening, further evaluation by telephone was attempted at 2 weeks, 2 months, 6 months, and 1 year. An additional set of questions, both on initial enrollment and follow-up telephone calls, assessed symptoms of acute stress disorder (ASD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in these patients. Data included here are for youth age 8 - 18.
